Downed Tree Limb

Please be aware! There is a large, downed tree limb (due to snowfall) at the 140th pl entrance to the park. We have called a tree service and the debris will be cleared once weather permits.

January 13 – Additional Coyote sitings in Kingsgate 3 & 4

Increased Coyote activity in Kingsgate 3 & 4 has been observed. They have been sited chasing small animals as well as other reported evidence of their presence. As this is a somewhat wooded area ‘some’ limited activity might be noted and so far most sitings have been late night or very early morning, however please review advise below and never approach.

Here is some advice about coyotes from the Washington State Deptartment of Fish & Wildlife (http://wdfw.wa.gov/living/coyotes.html):

Don’t leave small children unattended where coyotes are frequently seen or heard.
Never feed coyotes.
Don’t give coyotes access to garbage or cat or dog food.
Prevent access to fruit and compost.
Feed pets (dogs and cats) indoors.
Don’t feed feral cats (domestic cats gone wild).
Keep dogs and cats indoors, especially from dusk to dawn.

SR 520 bridge closed this weekend

Construction will kick back into high gear on SR 520 this weekend, when crews will install a dozen huge concrete girders on the Eastside. The SR 520 bridge and part of the roadway will be closed beginning 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, until 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, and from Montlake Boulevard in Seattle across Lake Washington to I-405 in Bellevue. The I-5 ramps to and from Mercer Street in Seattle also will close for weather-dependent construction this weekend. During past closures, this has meant additional congestion and delays for drivers midday Saturday. We’ll adjust the I-5 and I-90 express lane schedules to smooth out traffic flow, but drivers should plan ahead for possible delays. [From WSDOT]

Lane closure on NE 116th St on Thursday

On Thursday, Jan. 12, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., crews will close one lane of westbound NE 116^th Street just east of I-405. The closure is necessary so a contractor can bring in a large crane to perform drilling work on the north side of the road near Dania Furniture. One lane westbound lane of will remain open but expect congestion in the area. As a reminder, one eastbound lane of NE 116^th Street is closed in the same area – so please plan ahead and expect delays.

The work is part of WSDOT’s NE 116th St Interchange and Street Improvement project that will add lanes in the area and improve flow with better traffic signalization. Crews plan to open the area up to traffic by the end of this year.

Holiday Light Contest – Sunday, Dec 18th 2011

What an amazing year for holiday lights in Kingsgate 3 & 4! There were wonderful personalized displays of holiday cheer everywhere. Some of the fun of the contest and joy of the Holiday was to see the spirit and creativity of each home. Our judges (winners from last year) mission was to look for originality and spirit and find the best and brightest. They had a hard time deciding with so many incredible choices.

They did manage to narrow it down to 6……this year’s first time winners are 350 Todaro, 443 Wilkins and 423 Tucci. Honorable Mention went to Lots 348 Cantwell, 339 Baumoel and 548 Flores. In addition to posting the Contest Winner Yard signs, Judges let the winners know that night. Top three winners win a $50 prize to be delivered this week. Thanks to all who participated making this a great year to honor the spirit of the Holiday.

If you have an opportunity, take a drive or even better walk, the neighborhood and check out all displays before they all come down this weekend.

Onward to 2012 with only 12 months to plan!

Kingsgate 3 & 4 Holiday Light Contest

Kingsgate 3 & 4 Light Contest: Judging will occur Sunday evening, December 18th, 2011. If you would like to share and be reminded of the spirit of the Holiday, want to show your decorating skill or just plain love the ‘pretty lights’, we invite all who are interested to participate. Coyote spotted in Kingsgate 3&4

A coyote was spotted at 3:30am this morning (Thursday, November 3,2011).

“As I pulled out of my driveway heading towards Frost, it came running out from the area of the Michel’s house (on the park) and straight towards me. It darted down the Hale’s /Byrne’s/ Childers road (NE 142nd Pl). I followed it (in a car) and then lost it as it darted in-between some houses at the end of that street.”

Residents have also recently reported instances of small animal remains found in the park.

Please make sure you keep a close eye on your pets!
